Scarring is a result from the body’s natural healing process after the tissue has been damaged. When structural damages to the deeper layers of the skin occur, the type of damage depends on the nature of the wound that produced the scar.

The body forms new collagen fibres to mend the damage, resulting in a scar. The new tissue will have a different texture and quality to that of the surrounding tissue.

Stretch Marks occur when the skin rapidly stretches, the dermis breaks in places allowing the deeper layers of the skin to show through. This usually happens during pregnancy, weight gain or growth spurts due to puberty.
